Who We Are

there’s no such thing as taking it easy when it comes to Oddysseys. we’re a chicago-based post-punk band that’s always operted under a strong DIY ethos and work ethic. over the last bunch of years we’ve forged our own organic growth in the underground music scene, leaving our impression on basements, warehouses, and legedary venues across the U.S. and Canada, offering dynamic performances that take audiences on a journey through our sonically diverse discography - leaving plenty of room for all of you moshers, dancers, and arm-crossers alike. we don’t have time to wait for anyone and we take matters into our own hands, typically writing, recording, booking, and promoting ourselves. we’ve been called “a working class band through and through”, and a “multimedia force that is determined to move up, delivering [our] music as the most genuine and authentic versions of [ourselves]” (V13), from making music to making our videos to making our zines to designing flyers and merch, we’re hard at work to create and make the world a little easier to understand, for everyone. the only people we’re interested in leaving out are those who block the way for others… so are you in?

BUT DONT JUST TAKE IT FROM US

... a retro soundscape that brings out the brightest colors of ‘80s dreampop while finishing with light strokes of modern indie rock
— Rene Cobar, the Deli Mag
Bellowing, melancholic vocals reverberate like hymns out of a cathedral... contrasting with [sharp, restless basslines and driving tempos]. This juxtaposition reminiscent of Joy Division, however, such comparisons are limiting. Oddysseys bring their own Odd flair to everything they do... a modern interpretation of a beloved genre
— Joey Del, Allston Pudding
True artists, the members view themselves as more than just a rock group that gets on stage and plays music, but a unit that’s capable of delivering a full-on audio-visual experience
— Chris Gonda, President of V13 Magazine
If you’re into sad boys making somber dance music reminiscent of the 70s, it doesn’t get much better than these guys.
— Cassandra Dailey, Buffablog
A very forward-thinking group of musicians, [oddysseys] is helping to define a new wave in the punk underground motivated by their love of classic post-punk and goth punk... Their dream-pop and angst-ridden sound is one that is destined to stand out amongst their peers as a style that is hard to mimic in any meaningful way. It’s a versatile style of music that would resonate just as well with the college rock crowd of the 1980’s or the college rock crowd of today.
— Aaron Willschick, V13 Magazine
